The problems faced by the energy storage industry

Although the development situation is good, the energy storage industry still faces many problems. The first is the strong support of the government. For our country, although the party and the state attach great importance to the development of energy storage industry, the State Council has established energy storage as one of the 9 key innovative areas, and one of the 20 key innovative directions. However, the energy storage industry has never been warmed because of the lack of the support policy.
Of course, the government’s support is on the one hand, the most important thing is technology, how can we get the power we want in the efficient way?
At present, the energy storage technology is divided into three major categories: physical energy storage, chemical energy storage and other ways of storage energy (such as electromagnetic energy storage, phase change energy storage, etc.). Compared with physical energy storage, the application scene of chemical energy storage is more extensive; compared with the new technologies such as superconducting energy storage, chemical energy storage technology industrialization is more mature. Therefore, chemical energy storage has become the focus of the world energy industry development and innovation, and the innovation of chemical energy storage is inevitable to the development of new battery materials, power quality problems caused by the use of a large number of UPS battery and inverter is becoming more and more serious, such as harmonics, flicker, voltage sags, temporarily will not balance and so on, among which the harmonic problem is more prominent.
The main reason for harmonic generation is the use of UPS battery. UPS battery has become the key technology of chemical energy storage. Compared with the power grid, it is a nonlinear load. It will generate a large number of harmonics when working. As an example of configuring the UPS of 6 pulse rectifier, the input power factor is generally about 0.75, and the harmonic is more than 30%. Harmonic reduces the efficiency of production, transmission and utilization of electric energy, resulting in overheating, vibration and noise, and insulation aging, shortened service life and even failure. At the same time, it causes the local parallel resonance or series resonance of the power system to make the harmonic content magnify and cause the battery to burn down. The harmonic will also cause the relay protection and the automatic device misoperation, which makes the electric energy metering confusion. For the external power system, the harmonics can cause serious interference to the communication equipment and electronic equipment. It can be seen that for harmonics and other power quality problems, we must not neglect. We have stored a lot of energy through advanced technology, but may be faced with unusable situations.
