Complementarity of wind energy and solar energy resources

Solar energy is the source of all the energy on the earth, and the sun shines on every part of the earth. Wind energy is another form of solar energy on the surface of the earth. Due to different forms of the earth’s surface (such as sand, ground, vegetation, ground and water), the absorption coefficient of solar radiation is different, resulting in the formation of temperature difference on the ground surface, and then the formation of air convection wind energy. Therefore, wind energy and solar energy have strong complementarities both in time and in seasons: During the day, the sun shines well, the wind is small, at night there is no light, the wind is stronger; In summer, the intensity of the sunlight is large and the wind is small, and the sunlight intensity is weak and windy in winter.
The wind energy and solar energy resources in Inner Mongolia also have such complementary characteristics. The wind energy and solar energy resources in a certain place in Inner Mongolia are used to illustrate the complementarity between the two. The site is located at 42 degrees north latitude and 111 degrees east longitude, where the solar radiation is stronger during most of the year, when the wind is weak, and when the wind is strong, the solar radiation is weaker. It can be seen that the wind and solar energy resources in this site have good complementarity.
The wind and solar complementary power supply system is widely used in the rural areas of Inner Mongolia without electricity, farmers and herdsmen scattered households and centralized households, border companies and posts, border police stations and communication base stations, such as electric field, to provide users with living power and telecom facilities and other electricity.
