Application environment and service life of UPS

Many industrial UPS environments, especially in some power generation applications, are likely to be in the higher ambient temperature conditions (>30 degrees) and particulate pollutants in the air. So require the industrial UPS can work in a large number of non conductive dust and high ambient temperature. Work in the ambient temperature which at least 40 degrees, and some occasions even up to 50~55 degrees.

On the contrary, the commercial UPS application environment is almost controlled within 30 degrees, and very clean. The use life of any UPS system will be decreased in a high temperature environment, the key components of the UPS which is the most vulnerable to high temperature environment is the industrial grade UPS components (such as DC capacitor) and the battery. In the high temperature environment may make their life shortened, unless choose high temperature capacitors.

In commercial UPS applications, UPS users may not require a longer service life of UPS. But in the key process control, usually requires UPS to have 15-20 years of life. Industrial UPS system has a built-in design margin, to ensure the actual operating life to meet customer requirements. In addition, industrial UPS equipment will also have a predictable parts replacement program, to ensure that the UPS in the higher average no fault running time over 15-20 years.
