Low frequency UPS has no advantage in reliability compared to high frequency UPS

The main difference between low frequency online UPS and high frequency UPS is reflected in rectifier and transformer. Low frequency UPS rectifier uses SCR, the voltage stress is small and the current stress is high, the high frequency UPS mainly uses the IGBT device, the current stress is small, the voltage stress is big. SCR and IGBT are mature devices, as long as the application is properly, there is no difference in reliability. In fact, the inverter part of low frequency UPS is also used of IGBT, and therefore does not reduce the reliability of low frequency UPS, there is no evidence that the inverter is the weak link in the low-frequency UPS. Topologically, low frequency UPS use phase controlled rectifier and full bridge inverter, while high-frequency UPS use high frequency rectifier and half bridge inverter. These topologies are very commonly used in power electronics technology, there is no problem about who is more reliable in principle, its reliability depends on the level of design.
